Yes I did it as a test using yahoo mail and clicked the attachment and it was saved to my SD card. Used ES File explorer and transfered it to my book storage folder and opened it fine with my reader (Coolreader).

To me its a cumbersome way and just prefer to hook up to my PC and move a bunch at a time but if someone wants to give you a book with no drm then its a doable way.
