It seems other people thought highly of the same idea and have already rolled out the feature. It's not too late Kobo to play a bit of catch up.

I read exclusively DRM free sideloaded epubs, and would like to be able to read on my Kobo at home at night, and catchup at lunch or whatever during the day using the Blackberry or Android apps, and then come home and resume where I left off without ever having to worry about it.
It can't that difficult, just implement 2 simple items:
1) require the files to be exact duplicates of eachother, ie the same digital file, just copied on 2, 3 or however many devices, and
2) keep track of exactly which word number was at the top of the page I was on, it's digital software, it has to be able to count words.
I know that's an over simplification, but seriously, it's not rocket science either.
