The kindle outer screen is plastic and is not susceptible to scratching. I think it's unnecessary to have any sort of screen protector. You are only reducing the screen clarity and your reading enjoyment.

The screen have a glass substrate that is susceptible to shock and stress damage. You're most likely to damage the kindle screen by dropping it or sitting on it. A thin film will do nothing for that.
