Would be better if you open a new thread for your question, won't be mixed with other posts and probably will get answer faster.
Now, B&N books have DRM protection, same for Kindle. Putting the format types aside, the meaning of that is that you won't be able to read B&N books on Kindle or Kindle books on B&N (without any hacking, of course)
On my Android Phone and iPad, I do have B&N app. So that's an alternative. But on new Kindle Fire, I don't know if Amazon will allow B&N to deploy or distribute Nook reader app. I am assuming they will not! Because they want people to buy books from Amazon, not B&N.
