Professionals use laptops. Anybody who does more than just surfing the web, using office and watching videos uses laptops.

Netbooks don't have enough CPU or GPU processing capabilities for work or gaming. Except maybe those very expensive Alienware ones (but I seriously wouldn't call that a netbook anymore).

And of course people who want a screen larger than 12" use laptops.
The term notebook is used a lot for a small laptop.
