Using expensive items only at home or in closed spaces seems strange to me. What about your car, jewelery, a nice coat or even your pet.
And trust me people will rob you of your jewelry any where. And even your home is not safe if someone wants something. I just had a man in my store who's girl friend stole his Rolex and other expensive jewelry from his home safe. At today's gold prices that was tens of thousands of dollars.
I carry my Nook Color everywhere I go. If it is stolen that is what my insurance is for.
