Two page mode is also offered on the iPad app, although you have to turn it on. Are you sure it's not offered in the Android app but just off in options?

(On the iPad app, I bring up the options menu (where I can also choose the font size, the background color, and the brightness), and at the bottom of that dialog box are two cryptic boxes, unlabeled, which are symbols showing one page mode and two page mode. You just pick the one you want and it works fine.)
