Speaking as someone who's been around ebooks long enough to see a number of formats come and go, the less proprietary, the better.

And when they made the switch, they gave all their customers the option of redownloading everything they'd bought in epub - I don't know what else they could have done to make people happy other than never changing (and that's death).
That's great -- not sure why anyone would be opposed them going with the epub format. Benefits both the customers and the engineers at Sony.
