No, I have not done either nor will I have purposely destroy a perfectly good printed book. I just couldn't do it. As for scanning without destroying, I suppose if I had a decent scanner, the desire and the time, I might give it a try. As of right now, however, I'm perfectly happy paying others reasonable prices to do it instead.
Although it hurts a little, I will not reprimand those who do deconstruct printed books, for I understand the joy and ease of an e-reader over some printed formats. I will, instead, cringe in silence and hope its all for the best.
