Yeah, careful with which Archos you look at...many of the older models use a resistive touch screen. Those can wear out or just break pretty quickly, Not saying it will but be aware that resistive screens are very old technology. You want at minimum a capacitive touch screen.
You probably might want to avoid the Viewsonic as well. I believe it too has a resistive screen. If not it's pretty low resolution and really for just $100 more, give or take, you can get a far better screen.
I am hunting a tablet still myself. I'm going to hold out until either Amazon's Kindle is announced or early next year. I have an eye on the Lenovo's myself. If I happen to visit HP's site to find the 8GB version in stock I'll nab one of them as well and hope someone gets HC ported over. If not it's still a nice media player, color ereader and web surfing for $100. Nothing comes close really.
