I had a Pocketbook 902 for a while, and it also had a configurable refresh rate. I think it defaulted to 10, though, an that was with the older generation eInk screens. Not the greatest of choices.

I didn't have a problem with the default refresh rate of the Kobo Touch until I went to read it outside. Then it was VERY noticeable. Borderline unreadable on the last page before the refresh. Tweaking it down to three fixed that problem.
