I had to delete the books using calibre. Then eject the device. Close calibre. Then plug it up again and see if the books were in the directory (they were in the .trash folder). Then I deleted those .calibre files on the device. Then opened calibre (showing no books on the device) and resent them. It took me 1/2 hour to figure out what the heck was going on.
