It's the only one of his with which I'm familiar. It's rich and meaty. Definitely one that demands your full attention, but it's not dry. Takes some effort in the beginning, but then gets rolling nicely. Fans of his other works tell me that this is The One to read; his least academic and most yarn-like novel. Latin phrases throughout the work are untranslated, which some find an annoyance.
