Well, the real test will be if you're able to resist buying the sequels after reading the 1st in series*, should Scarborough's re-publisher put her DRM-free backlist at 25% off again for Smashwords' month-long summer sale.

True, they're a little pricier than the Fictionwise ones were, but presumably a larger chunk of the royalties go directly to the author, and you can also get free beading patterns with the purchase of select titles, if you happen to be interested in free beading patterns with the purchase of select titles.

However, chanting "Read an E-Book Week comes around once every year. I can wait for Read an E-Book Week." might help with the urges, especially if the free beading patterns tempt your will-power more than you might otherwise suspect.

* But seriously, you won't regret having bought Song of Sorcery. Scarborough's a Nebula winner, and her comedic traditional fantasy is kind of a cross between Ethshar and early Xanth when that latter series still had some quality. Very enjoyable stuff.

As for me, I recently finished 4 full paid e-book purchases and that entitles me to now go buy at least 4 more.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
