The Baen books I've obtained for Kindle are .prc and work great. If they came downloaded as .azw I would have to change the suffix to .prc to read them on my Iliad.
In fact, that is what I do when using Amazon's free convertor for pdf's and others.
Books come back as drm-free .azw files which I immediately change to .prc to make them viewable on any other device which accepts mobi file.
