This is not true. Low price guarantees do not apply to Kindle books.
However, you are protected under other language on the site (and actual law) - they can't charge you more than you agreed to when your purchased, which is the pre-order date, not the release date.
The publisher can cancel the books, though, and add them back (which some did with non-free books, but I've only once had happen with mistakenly free ones).
