I think it's always hard to feel empathy with people you dislike. I wouldn't wish death on anyone, though (with a
few small exceptions, and they are mass murderers who we would all be better off without), but equally you don't need to feel guilty about not caring.
It does sound like a tragedy for the wife/mother though, and maybe she deserves some thought.
