Alcantara is used for a multitude of things. Clothing, car seats and couches are the most common. This is the reason why there are a couple of cleaning rythms and methods are stated. Most people tend to clean their clothes more often than their sofas (or so one hopes).

I thought common sense would take care of this question, but obviously it does not.

You can buy Alcantara with a Scotchguard finish that repells stains and spills or you get the plain stuff that is easy to clean and to take care of. You only would clean it when it is dirty. There is no obligation to do this daily.

Actually, I don't see the point of this thread in whole. Either you go for one of the lightweight, easy to open Sony cases or you do one yourself using which ever soft cloth you like. So where is the problem?
