This is happening in the US too. People who photograph the 'wrong' buildings are getting taken away and interrogated by federal agents. Happened to a fellow from Ohio visiting NYC with his family. He was held for two weeks... He was in the wrong place at the wrong time and took the wrong picture!

I really enjoy reading your travel journals. It's almost like being there! Your description of the spice markets really brought back memories of bulging burlap bags, overflowing barrels, and boxes filled with strange but wonderful smelling things!

Thinking about it inspires me to have some herbals... in a glass of Bombay Sapphire!
