I give mine away and ask for donations. Do you want to guess how much money I have made so far? It's a nice ideal to work towards, but it just wouldn't work. You would need to move towards an advert funded model, or go back to government grants for artistic types funded through taxes. Or have something like the Uk library system where writers get paid a small amount each time one of their books is borrowed (downlaoded), again paid through taxation. None of those would be particularly popular at this moment in time.
