EDIT: Never mind, I had an epiphany. I will cut up a blue foam sleeping pad to make front and back panels, connect them with duct tape, add some shock cord to hold the corners in. It will look very ghetto, but will do what I need it to.

oh! I would NOT backpack with a DX! the size is so much different than the K3! it would be much more prone to the twisting type of damages we have seen! not to mention that it would take up so much more room in your backpack! I don't know much about DXs but there may be battery issues as well
