I had a Timex Sinclair 1000, I actually sold it to a guy in the UK for a lot more than I paid for it. I picked it up in 1996 at a yard sale, along with the tape drive (cassette recorder) and a printer, the computer worked out of the box, the printer took some time to work out. I paid $50 cdn and sold it in 2001 for 100 quid. I thought it was a hell of a deal, I even covered shipping.
They were less than useless, difficult to program, I spent the better part of 2 days trying to write a silly pong game, the damn ball would either stick to the paddle or go through it, never did sort it out. I'm glad my parent sprang for the TRS-80, more like a real computer.
