What are the specs on the laptop?
FF 4 works fine on my desktop, and should work on the SO's older laptop once I install it. (FF 3.6 currently works fine now.)
I don't even try to run it on my old notebook under Ubuntu - FF 3.6 takes 45 seconds just to load, and is sluggish when up. FF 4 will not be an improvement. Opera and Google Chrome aren't all that much better. To the extent that I browse from it, I use Midori.
(That's not a knock on FF - it's an ancient machine from 2002, and I didn't
expect current browsers to run well. They really want a CPU faster than 1ghz, a hard drive faster than UDMA4, and more than 256MB RAM. The miracle is that they run at all.)
