You know what ticks me off? The verb
read. Who was the genius that decided that the present and past tenses should be spelled alike, although one is pronounced "reed" and the other "red"? And who in name of all that's holy first decided it would be a good idea to use it as a noun?
I suggest that whoever's in charge of making the English language uniform should make the following changes to its usage:
Present tense:
I
read. You
read. They
read.
Past tense:
I
redd. You
redd. They
redd.
As a noun:
The author's latest novel is a good
book.
I have spoken.
