There's this program on one of the Discoveries we have, where somebody is trekking all over this globe and eating whatever the locals eat (and boy, are some of those things looking beyond gross!). At one episode, he walks by some durian and eats one, even though he hates the taste of it. Some girl behind a counter in that same shop refuses to join him in "tasting" it, but in the end some other women eats it with relish

It only shows that taste is something learned.
Take for example:
Salty liquorice. I once gave some to an American, he spitted it out as soon as he could. A Finnish exchange student finished the bag with me, as we both loved it
