While it's arguable the de-drming for personal use of purchased ebook is legal in the US, distribution of de-drm tools is probably not.

Of course, the Mobileread servers are in Canada, and the owner is not a US citizen, but given how easy the tools are to find and use even without a direct link (thanks to Apprentice Alf and others), is seems not to be worth a fight.
