I've never mentioned it on here before, but I've been the full-time caregiver for my grandmother for the past 8 years since my mother died (my grandmother was 82 when I started.) At first that consisted mostly of just being there in case something happened since she was still active and mobile around the house, but over that period I took on more and more of her old "jobs" as she became older, had two hip breaks (5 years apart), lost most vision in both eyes, until the last couple of months she lacked the strength to even sit on or stand from her bedside toilet on her own. On Christmas Eve her condition took a sudden negative turn, she was placed a hospice on Wednesday, and she died tonight (Friday) just after 11 PM (I was kind of rooting for her to reach 2011, even though I knew it wouldn't be long.) So I now face the perspective of finding a job in this economy after 8 years out of work.

ardeegee, I am so sorry to hear about your grandmother. She was very lucky to have you in her life and with her as a very caring caregiver over the years.
I do know how very difficult it is to find a job in the current economy and hope you are able to find a job soon.
