While as far as DRM content is concerned, you can only read Amazon's books (without tweaking), when it comes to non-DRM content they are both open and easy. If anything, there are more non-DRM mobipocket books available than EPUB, not including Google's badly OCR'd books. Emailing your own documents to Amazon does not lock them down; it generates files that can be used on any ereader that can read Mobipocket files (such as the Cybook Opus/Gen3 and the Pocketbook models). The Sony Readers are fine devices; they can stand on their own without the need to trash talk the competition.
