And, alas, not a trilogy, but the start of an unfinished series. The first two books at least had a beginning, middle and end (of a kind), but Firstborn just leaves lots of plot threads hanging, and even ends with the introduction of another hanging plot thread.

The first and second are worth reading. I found the third rather bitty and unsatisfying. Several things introduced, that one hopes will end up all tying together, only to have things come to a rather abrupt halt before they do.

In addition, there's more hand-waving about communication between places in an unsatisfying way.

Ah well. Now to pick the next item from my TBR pile.
