I was given a ticket by a Vermont State Trooper for passing another car by crossing a yellow line. I took it to court. It was dismissed by the Judge and the Trooper was admonished for not knowing the law. In Vermont (at the time) the law stated that it is/was illegal to pass when the way ahead is not clear. Nothing at all written about yellow lines. It's a good idea to always check the laws before we just pay out money!
