If you purchase a WiFi Kindle I don't think this would be an issue. Personally with a 3G Kindle if one were abusing the free service I could understand giving themselves the option to charge.

Yes, Duokan allows ePub reading but I believe it must be DRM free. Once more of the bugs are worked out I'll be trying it myself.
