I found y'all, so I'm cool with anything y'all decide. I wanted to make a comment and saw the request to take it out of this thread, and thought I'd wait till it was decided.
...and by now, I actually have two comments.
One - I looked at the Amazon threads and the support for Amazon's selling the book was shocking.
Two - I'm libertarian-leaning on 90% of things, but I feel sick whenever I hear people - including Amazon - compare this to any other possibly offensive material, like religious books or political books "some people don't like."
I know fine distinctions are hard for some people, but have we sunk so low in our ability to evaluate and make judgment calls that we can't recognize the huge distinction between "possibly offensive books" and books encouraging pedophilia?
And when did we become so enamored with the crutch of the "slippery slope" argument that we refuse to take a stand on the slope, even if it's right?
I think using slippery slopes as a reason to do bad things is a slippery slope!
(Hey, this Venting thing really works. I feel better than I have for hours of holding this in.
