Someone is posting release dates for his work and he is not meeting those release dates. As the author, he has to deal with the backlash. Or he can ignore the people who are unhappy, which seems to be the path he has chosen.
He loses some cash because I don't buy his next book. Or any other series that he writes because I don't feel that I can trust him to meet a deadline. I lose reading his work.
We both lose a little. There are plenty of other great writers out there I can read and the few dollars he gets from me is not really going to hurt him.
He can call it being artistic, I call it bad business.

If you read George R.R. Martin's blog, you will know he doesn't sit around writing the 5th book, he has other books he is working on. He is managing as best as he can. This is not an excuse, I think he should cut back and work on few less things, the man is in his 60s.
