Absolutely.

And yet Macmillan and Simon & Schuster arent happy with the Overdrive system. They want more money. I believe Macmillan wanted to receive a fee per borrow which libraries oppose.

Libraries are good customers. With 17,000+ public libraries in the US an author can do reasonably well if each one purchased their hardcover. Add in all the education and corporate libraries plus e-books and you have significant sales. Also, add international sales to the total.
