i'd agree this would be a nice feature.
I have a suggestion of my own, if I can piggy-back it here:
"by drawing" and "by keyboard" should also be icons on the status bar, so you can hit them directly there after you highlight (rather than go thru the extra dialog box that says "by drawing/by keyb"
every single time.
Status bar seems underused; there's a lot of real estate there for context-sensitive buttons to appear like that.
