I don't have a garden either - but then I prefer my indoor plants anyway, so it's actually a nice situation.
I have a plant I have kept since I bought it when I was 13. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find out what it's called, as I haven't come across anyhting like it anywhere before or since I bought it. And they couldn't tell me what it was called either.
Several others of my plants are "souvenirs" - cuttings from places I've visited. I have a pelargonium from the Faeroese historical museum for example. Whenever I travel somewhere, I try to take a cutting of something interesting home with me - unfortunately they don't always thrive in their new home - or I'm not allowed to bring them with me - and it's not that I'm above a bit of smuggling, but I also want to get home without customs issues
