I seem to remember reading about that!

I once decided to check to see if all the wires on the motor of my now dead food processor were still connected by taking the back off and poking around with my fingers whilst it was plugged in and the socket on...

I've had several people tell me not to say what I think will go wrong next - most memorably my Mum after I asked her what she would do if the iron caught on fire. She laughed and said it would never happen. It turned out that what she would do if the iron caught on fire would be shriek loudly and throw it across the kitchen... and then a boss after the two suggestions I had as to what could go wrong in the server room next were what went wrong. In fairness, the flood wasn't that hard to predict. The fire a few months later was just a lucky guess.
