can I edit a book's metadata on my kindle and if yes, how?

I use Calibre to upload books to my kindle, sometimes after converting them first, sometimes having Calibre do the conversion automatically for me.
Occasionally, I do this when I am in too much of a hurry to start reading to bother checking if all the book's metadata is correct, and then afterward I find it is not. Can I edit the metadata for a book that is on the device AND in my library? If the kindle has this possibility I have not been able to find it.
I could of course delete the book from the kindle, edit its data in the Calibre library, and resend it to the kindle, but if I could just edit the data when it is already on the kindle that would be so much easier and save two steps.

Thanks for suggestions...

I have also tried to do this with no success, I wanted to correct some issues where the author's name had gone in lf rather than fl as I prefer.
