Novelist Kurt Vonnegut dies at 84

Vonnegut is probably my favourite author. My favourite book of his is Mother Night, with Slaughterhouse Five coming close second. I also have fond memories of reading Sirens of Titan for the first time. Particularly the scene where the priest is doing a countdown of the 10 commandments. That was brilliant!

I was really interested in finding that your second favorite book is Slaughterhouse Five I have been struggling with it for a few weeks now and can't make head or tail of it, just shows one man's meat is another man's poison and this is certainly mine

wow, seeing this post come back onto the recent threads made me think Kurt had died twice.

Not fair, .... but so it goes.

I do miss Mr. Vonnegut.

I remember in one of his essays, Vonnegut commented on the struggles of being a Science Fiction author in the 50's and 60's stating (I paraphrase):

Science Fiction manuscripts are kept in a lower cabinet drawer that agents and publishers occasionally open in order to urinate in them.

That scared the crap out of me for a minute, I thought I was actually in "Slaughterhouse Five" for a moment there and I'd jumped back in time to that awful day when Kurt died

Wow, a blast from the past. Sorry you're not able to get into Schlachthaus Fünf, Keith. One of my all-time favorites. Now I'm going to have to go dig it out and read it again! ugh, I'll have to read a pbook
