Goodreads and Facebook Connect
I was checking out the online book resources again -- Goodreads, LibraryThing, Shelfari, etc -- and it looks like I can sign up for Goodreads using Facebook Connect.
Does anybody use Facebook Connect with Goodreads? What does that do, besides give me a single login? I'm not much of a facebook user so I don't have any idea what this means to me. |

Yeah, I do, but one word of warning. I found out the hard way that once you get facebook and Goodreads integrated, Facebook publishes every change you make on Goodreads to your FB profile. So if you're doing a lot of adding, everyone on your FB list gets slammed with Goodreads updates. I suppose it's less annoying than 20 game updates though....

That's kind of what I was wondering about. I suppose that's the whole point of integrating with Facebook -- the seamless updates -- but I wasn't sure how I felt about that.
I don't use Facebook now -- I have internet forums where I post "status updates" and photos -- but I thought this might be one way to get me to start using it more. Or at least, to appear to be using it more. Is it like the games where your friends can turn it off if they do not want to know what you're reading? |

I use it. I like it. I used to do it by grabbing the RSS feed from goodreads. This is a much better solution. My friends don't seem to mind too much.
It will also provide a utility which helps you locate friends on facebook which are also on goodreads. |

I am on Goodreads and Shelfari. I didn't like LibraryThing as much.
