mobi icons
O.K. I am going to ask a newbie question. By reading the other messages you guys are way over my head with technical language. All of my ebooks on my computer have change from the blue mobi icon to internet explorer icon that is a box with multiple color in it and a blue bar on the top. I can still open the books in my mobipocket program file. But all my books in my download file and past books won't open and asks me to search for a program to open it.
Thank you for any help. Remember basic computer language is appreciated. Lake |

Run Windows Explorer, and from the "Tools" menu, select "Folder Options".
On the "Folder Options" dialog box, click the "File Types" tab. You'll see a list of all the registered file extensions. Scroll down until you find "MOBI"; it will show you the name of the application it opens with, which will probably be Internet Explorer from what you've said. Click the "Change" button alongside it, and select the Mobi Reader application. Do the same thing for the "PRC" extension. That should sort it. |

Thank you Harry for your help. Of course I have problems. My Folder Options have three tabs (General, view, and search) No dialog or file types. Also please tell me what PRC stands for. Sorry I am real new to this.

I am talking about Windows XP. It may be somewhere else in Vista, if that's what you're running.

In explorer, there should be a right-click option for "open with" and the ability to choose the default program.

I am running with Vista. When I get home in a couple of hours I will try the right click option.

I tried right clicking on a file containing the ebooks I want the icon to change. On the top it shows eveything being opened by Internet explorer. You can change it by selecting a program on the bottom. Adobe, ect. There is no Mobi offered. Help
