JetBook
Looks interesting for the LCD fans, a bit pricey though.

Interesting. It's probably a variant of the M218A that I have. I wonder what formats it can read.

$395 for a 5" LCD? What are they smoking? If you're going to do an LCD reader then you have to give us something the other reading devices aren't. Be bigger. Be cheaper. Be color. Anything. Why would anyone buy this when they can get any one of the 6" e-ink readers for that or less. The could get a UMPC if they don't care about e-ink.

I found the Jetbook on Ectaco.co.uk as well as ectaco.com.
http://www.ectaco.co.uk/ECTACO-jetBook/ http://www.ectaco.com/ECTACO-jetBook/ Where do you see the $395? The price I see is $349. |

I misread. Thanks for pointing it out. Still, that thing should be $150 or less unless it has some amazing software features.

To quote Tom Hank's character in Big, "I don't get it".
Are we sure it isn't e-ink? I never see where it says LCD. Their Downloads page is, umm, interesting. Last edited by Taylor514ce; 03-24-2008 at 06:20 PM. |

Technical Display 5.01” VGA reflective monochrome TFT However, it is not a back lit one. If you read the review (story) it says that the screen is lit from reflective light so as to cause less eye strain. BOb |

I know that the screen is LCD because I have one. The hardware of the Jetbook is the same as an ebook reader called M218A. Only major difference is that it doesn't have the same firmware.

Is there a place to purchase the M218A or B for import to the US?
