The original "3D projection on 2D demo" Basic code which ran on the Apple][... And that I ported later to the C64... And much later ported to the K3 in shell script... And further again to the K3 in C... ... Time to port it in Fortran for running in the IBM 1130 simulator on the K3... ... Too bad: the simulator only supports the IBM 2250 peripheral on windows builds, the IBM 2250 was a graphics screen of the IBM 1130 that had a 1024^2 pixels resolution! With the simulator fully supporting FORTRAN compiler plus the IBM 1130/2250 Graphic Subroutine Package for Basic FORTRAN IV, it would have been pretentiously a snap to code a 3D_6.0. Glad your having some fun with it.
The 1130 stuff I found is included in a sub-directory of the Kindle-Mainframe repo: https://bitbucket.org/knc1/kindle-mainframe/overview It may take me another 24 hours or so to upload (over a slow dsl line) everything I have to put in that one repository. Its a WIP |

K5/360
For those who might be interested, see Dave's blog at:
http://www.neurotica.com/wiki/TechIn...0_Installation Dave was good enough to share a copy of the third (missing) archive for building a single terminal, OS/360 system. Maybe we can talk PoP into transferring from his 1130, to the K5/360 system. "Big Iron in a Padded Zipper Case" <-- New slogan. PS: Dave's comment on this project: "Neat!" |

Progress?
Two of the publicly released mainframe systems have successfully been run on my desktop now:
VM/370 and S390/MTS Which leaves: OS/360 and S370/MVS to be played with. Then I can figure out how to 'squeeze' them into a Kindle's storage resources. For instance, what I am calling S390/MTS is archived by the University of Michigan as it was run on a duplex, 3090-Model 400: http://www-03.ibm.com/ibm/history/ex...423PH3090.html Which requires Hercules ESA/390 emulation mode to run. But run it does, in a 4 processor, simplex (single machine) version. And the device emulation files take just a tad bit more than 1Gbyte of storage. That 1Gbyte of storage would be a very sizable chunk of the storage available on the Kindle Paperwhite. So a bit of "fat trimming" will have to be done to the installation image. The "S390/MTS" work is being published here: https://bitbucket.org/knc1/kindle-s390-mts |

A genuine question: What are you guys actually doing with this emulator?
In Kindle's mind: "What the f^34 do you guys want from me? Leave me alone!" |
