Free (Multi) Jack Vance Novel - Planet of Adventure Book 1: The Chasch
More properly called The Tschai series, it's widely known as The Planet of Adventure Series of which there are 4 books.

It's the combination of SF and fantasy called Planetary Romance. His stuff is a little grimmer than the older type, though.

It's from his own book store and will apparently be available for free for a few days

Sorry, it did say not available in all regions, but didn't say what regions, so I didn't know.

Pretty sad that the author of a 44 year old novel can't give it away if he wants.

I'm at work so it is a business connection but nothing special about it AFAIK. For example, if I go to Amazon and am not logged in, it shows me as being from Australia. If I do whoami it shows as Australia.

May I suggest Tunnelbear? It enables my computer to go on holiday to the UK and USA. The limited version is free, plenty for the odd book, not enough for films.

Probably need to use a VPN service to get around that Aussie restriction. I tried the DNS workaround UnblockUS and web proxy hidemyass with no joy.

Update: tried TunnelBear and it worked. Thanks for the suggestion!
