Communicate with Kindle 4 NT over wireless or just via USB?
Hi there,
The title pretty much sums up my query... Does calibre need to have the Kindle physically cabled to the PC to push it's library contents to and fro or can it do it over wifi connection? Rob |

For SENDING books to the Kindle then your choices are USB or email to your Amazon Kindle account. The email route will then download from Amazon via WiFi or 3G.
You can PULL books on the Kindle from the Calibre Content Server via WiFi using the Kindle browser. This is only one at a time but has the advantage of needing to be near the PC/Mac running the Calibre Content server. |

Thank you,
So, if I want Calibre to be able to do it's thing regarding pushing newly added books onto the Kindle and creating Collections then the Kindle needs to be connected with it's USB cable. Rob |

For direct manipulation (such as creating collections), you need USB.

Note: that Wifi can pull from any Network connection, anywhere if you have setup (called port forwarding) your router to allow access. (IMHO If you don't know how to do this, you should get knowledgeable help to avoid major security compromising of your Network or your Machine) BTW The content server<-> and my new K4 work nicely together |
