Which avantgo channel(s) do you mean exactly? I haven't seen a Lancet or British Medical Journal available on Avantgo. Can you specify the channel names?

A general procedure of mine is to find some text out of the title of the channel and look for that online. That, in fact, has yet to fail me. I have found all of my AvantGo channels and am currently using them through iSilo.

@saw9000: yep, this is a good method. Another good method is to smart guess. 99% of all channels have their mobile version located at <root>/mobile or <root>/avantgo or <root>/handheld or <root>/palm or <root>/wireless.
Another good method is using google's or alltheweb's search in url feature. Here is how you do that: In Google: search for 'allinurl: <searchstring>'. E.g. 'allinurl: avantgo' In Altavista: go to "advanced search". There, under "Word Filter", use "Must include" + <searchstring> + "In the Url". Of course, you can easily refine your search, for instance by pinpointing to a particular country host or by adding more relevant keywords. |

Exactly what I was talking about. You seem to have taken the method further than I have, what with the specific country hosts. I was just looking for strings within the title or text of a page.

Ok this might sound a bit lame, but could you re-explain what you posted above regarding finding palm friendly sites. Ive read what you posted probably 20 times and still dont seem to grasp it.
In Google: search for 'allinurl: <searchstring>'. E.g. 'allinurl: avantgo' I guess my brain just isn't translating exactly what this means. Sorry ![]() |

Mmmm. I think that what Alexander meant is that you should do a Google search like in the following example:
allinurl: washingtonpost.com avantgo Your results will produce the Avantgo page for the Washington Post. In my example, assuming I'm correct, you must know the original index page for the url you're seeking. Unfortunately for BMJ.com and thelancet.com, the two you were seeking, this method doesn't work. In this case, I suspect that Alex probably searched their respective websites. Yo Alex: Am I right? As a final note, you might also try mobile.alltheweb.com (my personal fave). Set the index to PDA and include avantgo in your search parameter. Good luck |
