Collections saved on Amazon site ?
Kindle 3 running 3.0.2 , jailbreak and screen saver.
Used Calibre to Add about 118 books Used Kindle Collection Manager Decided to do a factory reset . All looked fine however.......... Once I'd registered my Kindle again a number of Collections ( maybe 6 out about 18 ) came back to the Kindle even before I'd actually copied anything back to the Kindle Are collections saved somewhere on my Kindle account on Amazon ??? How do I get rid of them from my Amazon account so they don't come back again ?? ? |

Welcome to MobileRead, fidjit
From your Kindle Users guide, To permanently remove an item in the list from your account and Archived Items: 1. Locate the item you wish to delete in the "Your Orders" section. If you have a lot of content, you may need to use the Previous and Next links at the bottom to navigate through all of your content. 2. Click on "Delete this title" button next to the title to permanently remove the title item from your account and Archived Items. Note that after the title is removed from your account, you will no longer have access to re-download this title unless you re-purchase it. Existing copies of this title already on your device will not be removed unless you choose to delete them. For more information on removing content from your device please see Removing Kindle Content." You might find this page useful also. http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custom...deId=200503360 |

I don't think the OP wants to permanently delete BOOKS from his/her Amazon account, but rather, wants to delete the Collections settings. I don't use them myself, so I won't be any help. Just wanted to make sure that the OP doesn't make the mistake of permanently deleting "purchased books" to fix his/her "collections" issue. That would be throwing the baby out with the bath water.

Yes. Collections are synced to Amazon. It is just what item is in what collection. The actual items themselves aren't sent. They're synced so you can move your collection between devices.
I'm not sure how you completely delete one though. |

Maybe try turning off synchronization from your Amazon account page. Then turn it back on after you have the Kindle set back up the way you want it?

As I understand it, collections are tied to individual Kindles, and saved with your account. So if you delete a collection from your Kindle, and sync/check for items, it is gone. You can copy a set of collections from one Kindle to another at any time, but these copies are independent of each other.
I don't know how KCM factors in here, though. |
