I don't use much footnotes in epubs, but in kepubs it's easy to tap the number (you don't need to have a precise touch) and then a pop-up window appears. From there you can close it and go back to where you were or view more details by going to the footnote page. to go back there is an arrow. So if it's firmware related, maybe you can use the kepub extension while waiting on an update fixing that |

it worked with this firmware but doesn't work anymore. I can't figure how it could be book related but who knows... It's a real hassle but I'm not fluent enough in latin not to use the notes (it's not really footnotes as they are all at the end of the book as if it where some appendix of the book).

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if it were book related. Maybe it lays in the way the tags/lines indications/whateverThisIsButICantfindTheRightWord were written.
As regard for the footnotes, on one of my books they were at the end of each chapter and on the one I'm currently reading I guess they are at the end of the book. So the actual location doesn't seem very relevant. Is this a sideloaded book? If so has it been converted to Kepub? If the issue is because of a bad tagging maybe you can try to convert it epub->epub or epub->kepub with Calibre. |

yes a sideloaded book. I'm not fond of kepub as a matter of fact. I'll see if the next book in the series is OK with regard to footnotes and will act according to its behaviour.

vice-versa,
you don't need to convert epubs into kepubs, to use the kepub rendering engine with epubs simply change the file name extension of the book from .epub to .kepub.epub before sideloading the book. Or, you could make a copy of the book, rename the extension of the copy to .kepub.epub then sideload both files. Then you can see which rendering of the book you prefer. You could then remove the version of the book that you don't want. Or if neither fulfils your needs you could leave one of the books at the notes page and read the other book, and swap between the two whenever you want to read a note. |

Questions 1. How do I find my conf file on the Aura HD? 2. Once I find it - how do I edit it to make the necessary correction to get SORT added back as an option. I did note Post #176 or #177 which talked about downloading Notepad++. That seems to be an option for Windows, any option for Mac. Last question: I have followed the instructions posted under the Shelf Mgmt section under the Kobo area. I followed the instructions however, when the collections get onto the Aura HD, and I select title, it does list by title, but I would like it to list by series #. I used the metadata plugboard information and chose the following: To modify the book's title to <Series> - <Number> - <Title> type Code: {series}{series_index:0>2s| - | - }{title} It is not producing the results I expect which is Series Name - # - Title of Book. Also, when I delete the collection via the Aura HD and then re-connect the device to Calibre, it is still showing as On Device. Any thoughts on this? Again sorry for the 20 questions but just need a little direction. Here's some specs: Running MAC 10.9.4 Aura HD firmware verison 3.30 Thanks for any help someone can provide. |

This is what I have in Calibre/Preferences/Metadata Plugboards
{series}{series_index:0>2s| - | - }{title} Destination field - title. That's the same string you posted, which I use for my kobo. It appears on my devices the way you want: series name - # - Title. Also if you are using Calibre to create your shelves, then yes a deleted will reappear when you connect it. |

As I stated, I am not a Mac user. But, a search here found https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...73#post2773073 which has instructions on how to show the hidden directory in Finder. Once that has been done, you should be able to see the ".kobo" directory on the device and the "Kobo" directory inside it. Hopefully that helps. If not, you will need to wait for a Mac user to come along.

I'm not a Mac user either, but I once helped someone upgrade and install some patches on an Aura via a Mac, which didn't show the .kobo directory at first. I found that a simple search for ".kobo" in the Finder turned up the folder and I could import the files into it.
