Stanza (und iPod Touch): Bücher des Desktoprechners "online lesen"?
Damit ein Buch offline in Stanza lesbar ist, muss es vom lokalen Computer heruntergeladen werden.
Schön wäre eine Funktionsweise für eBooks, wie man sie für Musik kennt. Mit der Anwendung "Remote" hat man per WLAN Zugriff auf seine gesamte auf dem Desktoprechner liegende Musikbibliothek. Genau sowas möchte ich gerne auch für eBooks realisieren. Geht das? |

Aber kann es Stanza?
Da Du Dir nicht sicher bist, ob Du mich richtig verstanden hast: die Buchdatei soll physikalisch auf der Festplatte des Desktoprechners liegen. Auf dem iPod dagegen ist die Buchdatei nicht gespeichert. Der iPod ist per WLAN mit dem Desktoprechner verbunden. Weißt Du, wie man von Stanza aus das Buch lesen kann? |

Mit Stanza selbst kenne ich mich nicht aus, aber Calibre hat einen eingebauten Server, der die Bibliothek via HTTP anbietet. Meines Wissens ist der hervorragend für die Nutzung mit Stanza geeignet.
Wieso willst Du denn die Buchdateien nicht auf dem Ipod haben? |

Gegen Plattencrash sorgt man selbstverständlich mit einem Backup vor.
Vielleicht verstehst Du mich noch falsch. Ich habe rein gar nichts dagegen, den eBook-Reader unterwegs und offline zu nutzen. Im Gegenteil, das wird sein Haupteinsatzzweck sein. Unterwegs reicht mir ein kleiner Stapel Bücher. Das passt auch zum, im Vergleich zum Desktoprechner, winzigen Speicher des iPod. In der Wohnung jedoch, da möchte ich aus dem Vollen schöpfen. Eben Zugreifen-Können auf jedes Buch aus "der Regalwand", also der ganzen lokalen Bibliothek. Das muss ja nicht jedem gefallen, aber ich suche genau dafür eine Lösung. Zur Sicherheit: Calibre wird standardmäßig via lokaler Server an den iPod angebunden. Siehst Du diesbezüglich ein Sicherheitsproblem oder ist das von Hause aus vernünftig abgesichert? |

Nur zur Klarstellung: Redundanz ist das genaue Gegenteil. Redundanz sagt aus, etwas mehrmals gleichzeitig zu haben, bzw. auszuführen, um bei Ausfall eines Gerätes/Maschine/Linie/wasimmer ohne Ausfälle, Verluste und Verzögerungen trotzdem 100% Verfügbarkeit zu haben.

Können, schon. Wollen, nein.
Es gibt so viele schönere, genußvollere Orte (in der Wohnung) und Körperhaltungen als vor dem Display am Schreibtisch. Aber, da hier niemand ruft "in Stanza geht Streaming so ...", scheine ich mir das abschminken zu können. |
