I've accidentally found these pictures of the Boyue T62+ posted recently on a Chinese site:

From the screen's background color it seems like it's E-Ink Carta. I can't read Chinese and Google Translate is not of much help but I see "Carta" being mentioned there! My Chinese isn't all that great (especially with tech speak), but I think he is saying that Boyue claims this new model has a faster, better display. This 4th model is supposed be a Carta, or the equivalent thereof, but Boyue will have to prove that it is. He doesn't think it is because the Kindle that has a Carta display goes for about $240. (in China, the T62 goes for about $95). |

![]() Well he's wrong, the 2GB Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 2 uses E-Ink Carta panels too and has the same screen resolution (1024x758@212ppi) and it's being sold for ~$110 around the world which is not much different from Boyue T62+'s price! |

Got mine Boyue T62 yesterday, it only took four days to shipped, not bad. Finally got it rooted. Installed the cpu management to conserve battery. Like it alot. Nice screen. Don't know if its Pearl or Carta. Mine is D, btw.

I've also been happy with my Boyue T62. I used it for about a week, installing Moon+ Reader, Dropbox (to sync position with my phone and tablets) and a handful of other apps initially. It was already a useful ebook reader at that point. I just rooted and added Google Play plus additional programs yesterday. So far no problems but I want to use it more to say whether there is any noticeable difference in performance.

Audio?
Could anyone with the Boyue T62 please give me some information about the audio player aspect?
I like to listen to various meditation/relaxation type recordings to help me fall asleep. For many years, I have used my media player for that. I have each MP3 in a separate folder so that the player automatically will shut off very soon after the recording finishes playing. I need to replace the media player, and thought this might be a good opportunity to upgrade my eReader. (I am still using the Kindle Keyboard I purchased years ago, but would really like the front-light and the improved contrast of the newer screens.) So my question is... Will I be able to have the whole device shut down after playing a recording... whether by putting MP3s in separate folders, or using a playlist, or using some sort of battery saving app? If not, can anyone recommend a device that would be a good choice for me? Any new devices that are going to be released soon, for which I ought to wait? Thanks so much for any insights. ![]() |

I really have not used the audio function much, other than for a few seconds to make sure it worked. I only used it with headphones and I'm not sure if it has an external speaker. There is no blue tooth. I would think that it would work as long as you don't mind using headphones or plugging it into an external speaker.
Functions such as shutting down after playing would depend upon the specific software. I don't have it with me so I can't check if the built in music player has such a function. Assuming it doesn't I would check apps in the Google Play store (if you plan to root) or Amazon (if you aren't going to root). Do you really need to shut it down completely? It uses little power when not in use. I never shut mine down unless a reboot is needed for certain utilities. |

Thank you very much for your reply. I guess as long as it just stops after playing one recording, and isn't draining the battery, that would be fine. Does it typically go into some sort of sleep mode when its been inactive for a while?

My T62 arrived a couple of days ago. It's the T62D, so the newer version. I really like it. I believe it is a Carta screen. Compared to my Aura HD, the screen has a noticeable cream colored background rather than a whitish-grey, and the contrast appears to be a little higher.
Neither of the included readers handled my sideloaded preferred font correctly. I added all four families of Linux Libertine, and both seemed a little confused by that. It might be a naming issue, but I didn't pursue figuring it out. I installed Moon+ Pro and AIReader, and they both handled the fonts correctly. I set the refresh to "Always" on AIReader, and that seems to keep the text clean. My one issue right now is with the light. It works great...a little too great. I want to decrease the minimum brightness, or figure out how to change the brightness adjustment steps. I fiddled around some with the files in /sys/class/backlight/rk28_bl, but haven't really made any progress yet. I can't really comment on the battery life, since I've been fiddling around with getting stuff set up 'just so' too much to judge. Like others, I installed Greenify and a CPU manager after rooting (though I didn't use SetCPU, just because there was another one I'd used extensively before). No issues with it using battery while idle, so I expect the battery life will be fine once I stop fiddling around and just use it as an ereader. |

I ordered from Banggood.com. I placed the order on 3/8. They shipped on 3/10, and it arrived on 3/23, so right at two weeks. They included a screen protector for the Amazon Kindle. I don't plan to apply it, but it does line up perfectly. That might be good to know if anyone wants to get a screen protector. I also got a card for VIP access to guyizhou.cn. It looks like that is a Chinese language bookstore. Again, not something I'll use, but others might be interested.
In response to your earlier question about sleep mode, you can set it to shut the screen off in the settings. Mine turns off the screen after 2 min of inactivity. |

My one last concern is that I have only had a Kindle Keyboard, and have never used a smart phone, tablet or Android device. Are all the instructions in Chinese? Is it pretty easy and intuitive to set up and use? |

I received mine about 10 days ago and have been testing different apps on it and doing some experiments on its software since. Overall it's a fantastic and great device; everything works great and fast. Also the battery life on this device has amazed me! I don't know if they did adjust the software on this new model to consume less energy or not but it's been using too little energy even with wi-fi and front-light on! I did a full recharge a week ago (Its battery was at 60% then I think) and after like at least 50 hours of usage, mostly with wi-fi ON and sometimes with front-light on, it's now at 70% battery-charge which is I think too good for an Android device! And I haven't installed anything to control the apps' cpu usage or whatever yet! The preloaded apps are fine but not great. Adobe Reader, Aldiko, Moon+ Reader, RepliGo Reader, and Mantano Reader are all much better than the preloaded ones. The preloaded apps work better with Epub files than PDFs in my experience. Also there are some Chinese apps that seem to provide free cloud access to a lot of Free books and mangas, too bad they're all in Chinese! ![]() |
